Virginia Creeper Trail Rail to Trail Bike Ride

The Virginia Creeper Trail is a beautiful rail to trail ride in Virginia. It's a 34 mile section of trail that goes from Whitetop to Abingdon, with the option to do a shuttle pick up in Damascus (majority of people do this option). You can choose to do 34 miles, with an extension to bike to Abingdon Vineyards, or you can do the first 17 miles and grab the shuttle back. The shuttle will take you to Whitetop and then you choose to if you want to be picked up or continue the ride all the way into Abingdon, for a total of 34 miles. The first 17 miles is mostly downhill and does not require a lot of physical effort. The second portion of the 34 miles has some incredible sights and wonderful stops, including a side trip to Abingdon Vineyards. We chose to go the entire 34 miles and are ultimately glad we did! We did the trail in May and the weather was wonderful. Sugar Hollow Park is a city park that was only $20 a night (cash only), with tons of available sites and a very peaceful setting. Campground tour: https://youtu.be/HOIqBrlxXqM
